Wow! A nail-bitter. It all comes down to the Monday night game (New England vs. Miami). Before this game Darrell, Tamara, and Larry are all tied for the Showdown lead. After seventeen weeks one game stands between victory and the agony of defeat... Week 17 - Tamara, Darrell, and David win this week. Larry and Albert tie for third. Sorry Darrell, New England wins Monday night (yes I agree, Miami did get robbed), this means there is a tie for first place this year. Final Standings - Tamara and Larry win the 1997 Showdown trophy, both with 63%, (150/238). Darrell (last years winner) falls one game shy of tieing the victors with 62.6% (149/238). David takes fourth with 60.5% (144/238). Albert rounds out the field with 55% (131/238). Stay tuned for more (next year - if anybody is still around). A final thanks to all those who participated. Thank You.

also win it? ..." (Larry)

Tamara flirts with a perfect week (got the first thirteen right but missed the last two games) and ends up with a season high 86%. The exellent week also propells her into second place overall (only one game behind the overall leader). Darrell recovers from last weeks cellar performance and takes second this week, but still drops into third overall (two games behind the overall lead). Larry takes third this week and barely holds onto the overall lead. David grabs fourth this week and fourth overall. Albert, after a couple of great weeks, runs out of gas and takes fifth. Next week is the final week - Looks like its going to be a photo-finish between Larry, Tamara, and Darrell. Stay tuned for more...
Quote of the week - "Here are my selections for week 16 (although with last weeks results, I probably should not even pick ..." (David)

Quote of the week - "A tie? What happened to Sudden-Death?" (Larry) - ed. the Phily/Baltimore game was thrown out because it ended in a tie, so no-one got it right and no-one got it wrong.

Darrell wins week 11 and takes sole possession of the overall lead. Larry takes second this week and falls one game below Darrell (second place overall). Tamara and David tie for third this week (which keeps Tamara in third place overall and David in fourth place overall). Albert has no luck this week and takes fifth place. Stay tuned for more...

Tamara wins her second week this year with a blistering 78.6%. Tamara holds third place overall, four games behind the overall lead. Darrell, David, and Larry each hang on, tying for second place (71.4%). Darrell and Larry stay tied for the overall lead (Darrell and Larry have been tied for first place for three weeks straight). David has fourth place overall (six games behind the leaders). Albert has a good week (64.3%) and pulls his overall percentage up to 56.3%. Unfortunatly his three weeks of missing picks has put him 14 games behind the overall leaders. Stay tuned for more...

The race for first stays tight as Darrell, Larry, and Tamara win week 9 with 9 out of 14. Darrell and Larry stay tied for first place overall and Tamara moves into third. Albert actually submits his picks this week and takes second place with 8 out of 14. David (i.e. Mr. Heart) comes up short and takes third with 7 out of 14. Stay tuned for more...

Darrell and David strike back this week and win week 8. The performance pushes Darrell back into first place overall (tied with Larry) and helps David take sole position of third place overall. Tamara and Larry hold on and tie for week 8 second place honors. Albert, a no-picker again this week, sees his default picks do surprisingly well at 53.8% Stay tuned for more...

Albert, where are you? Once again Albert did not pick ... ouch! A new rule is now in effect - If you don't pick then your picks default to the first column of teams (thats all the away teams for those keeping score). Albert previous two weeks will be updated according to the above rule. A lot of new faces on top of the heap this week. Tamara wins her first week this season with a blazing 83.3%, this also moves her into third place overall (tied with David). Larry takes second this week (and first place overall). Darrell shows he is human with a below average weekly percentage of 58.3% (maybe spending too much time studying the stock market and not enough studying the injury reports). David (i.e. Mr. slump) has another bad week and has now dropped into a tie for third place overall. Stay tuned for more...

An interesting week that sees Larry take the week 6 pole position with 9 picks correct. Tamara and Albert are close behind with 8 picks correct. Darrell has a bad week and takes third spot with 7 picks correct. David falls on hard luck (as do his Cowboys) and gets a sub 50% week with 6 correct picks. Overall Darrell retains the lead Larry climbs into second, one game behind Darrell (i.e. Mr. ShowDown), and David drops into third, he is now 3 games behind the lead. Tamara holds fourth, and Albert (missing a week can really kill your percentage) rounds out the field. Stay tuned for more...
Quote of the week - "I almost forgot again..."(Albert) - ed. Albert forgot to make his picks during week 5; looks like he almost repeated the feat this week. The man lives on the edge.

An uneventful week. Darrell, David, and Larry take top honors this week. This keeps Darrell in the overall lead by 2 game. The biggest news story of the week was the absence of Alberts picks (I guess he got a little too wrapped up in work). Since Albert didn't pick he gets the default picks (all the away teams - Column A teams). Stay tuned for more...
Quote of the week - "Thanks Albert! ..." (Tamara) - in reference to the fact that she is no longer in last place.

Darrell takes the overall lead with another outstanding week. Tamara and Larry join Darrell with the best week 4 picking percentages; however, Larry is still a little miffed about the Pittsburgh lose. Albert pulls within one game of David (i.e. second place), and David takes a walk on the wild side and ends up with the worst percentage for week 4 picks. Is it just a bad week for David or is this the beginning of the end? Stay tuned for more ...

Holy Moly! Let's get them refs some glasses. Where is instant replay when you need it? Darrell has a fantastic week and is now tied for first place overall. David, Albert and Larry have a very successful week (only diminished by Darrells dizzying percentage), each score 10 of 13 games correct. Tamara gets quote of the week, but thats about all she got this week. Stay tuned for more...
Quote of the week - "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!" (Tamara) - exclaimed after the refs blew a call and gave Oakland an undeserved touchdown, also mentioned after the Dallas win.

Darrell comes out SMOKIN' and wins the week by correctly picking 11 correct games. Darrell's fabulous week pulls him into second place overall. David keeps the overall lead with a respectable 10 correct. Larry starts to show promise with 9. Albert slips from first to third overall (but he can't complain because his niners won). And Tamara (Miss consistant) matches her first week total of 8 correct. Stay tuned for more...

Shades of last year (i.e. a slow start). Albert and David start the year on top with a respectable 60%. Tamara starts at second place with a cool 53% and both Darrell and Larry (believing the Pittsburgh hype) fall short of .500 (at 47%) to take third place. Stay tuned for more...
Quote of the week - "YES!" (Tamara) - uttered when she heard that the Jets were stomping on the Seahawks.
